Spending Time with Our Youth

by Bro. Marcus Whitfield

On Saturday December 27, 2008 Gamma Pi hosted its monthly Que Kids Daze event at Glass Manor Community Center in Suitland. The event began around 11:00 am with approximately 12 kids. The Brothers demonstrated a typical Kwanzaa celebration led by Bro. Darryl Dreher. The kids were able to participate in hands-on fashion by lighting the candles on the Kinara (candle holder) and stating the meaning of each principle of Kwanzaa. The kids enjoyed themselves as they tried to remember what they learned about the Kwanzaa principles. After the Kwanzaa presentation was done, the Brothers of Gamma Pi fed and socialized with the kids. We had a great time and enjoyed spending time with these young people. Hopefully these photos will tell the story if you were unable to be there.
