Shoppers going in and out of the GIANT Food Store on Campus Way Drive in Largo got a firsthand education in the importance of being registered to vote during our chapter's Voter Registration Drive today, Saturday, September 13. Brothers Melvin McCottry, Joe Felder and Dr. Gerald Folsom spent several hours explaining the registration process, passing out literature and helping new registrants filling out forms. They encountered several hundred people and registered more than 30 for the November election. This activity was an outgrowth of the chapter's support of the county NAACP. We have worked the NAACP Candidate Forum, helped support the organizing of a High School NAACP Chapter at Oxon Hill High School, trained many of the Greek and other community organizations on voter empowerment, and led the local NAACP chapter on voter empowerment."
